How much stuff should come out?
I have added a breather to the crankcase where the mechanical fuel pump used to be.
It has a 1/2" pipe on it.
There is also the breather pipe from the rocker cover.
I had intended them to terminate in a bottle under the bonnet and have a filter ontop, but having just run the engine there is quite a bit of
steam/vapour comming out.... Is this normal?
The thought of having that much vapour under the bonnet is not very appealing given the fact that the bulkhead has more holes than a piece of swiss
cheese...
Could I join both breathers together with a T piece and then run a pipe down under the car to vent the gasses? Or would I run the risk of syphoning
out the oil?
The gasses need to go somewhere.... and the further away from me the better!

I've put both of mine into the bottle, the bottle being above the highest oil point. No problems, fair bit of steam comes out but not enough to
notice when the bonnets on and definatly can't smell or see anything whilst driving.

Agh thats quite interesting! Do you have a tap on that drain, or does it just drip as it pleases?
And how have you managed to secure your hoses so tidely in the drinks bottle? Looks really nice

Nah the drain has a bolt stuck up it with a jubilee clip round it. Easy to get to from underneath though.
The pipes connecting to the bottle, that was a special locost thing, hang on a mo...

Can you guess what they are yet.....
half nut on the back, hardest bit was getting the nut on and tight, had to make a special spanner!

quite normal. I was quite worried when I saw this and the amout increase when I revved the engine (I1.3 xflow).
I wrapped paper around the breather filter and it was clean = water vapour. a byu product of combustion.
There is absolutely no trace of any oil in my catch tank.
In your case, drive it and see - the vapour under the bonnet sjould not cause any problem.

Referring to your picture no. 2: I can see a hose run down to outboard the engine bay. Then, why would you have an air filter on top of the bottle
while it can breathe through the hose? Moreover: why have the bottle?? In case there is any oil, it can flow straight out the hose onto the street?

Thats an awsome solution... I had been looking for some screw in nipples for ages! Where is the best/cheapest place to get the nipples and nuts?

Have a look at something like these
LINKY on
the bay but if you've got a machine mart they have a wide selection that you can have a look through. Check those are ok as I've had a
few shandies too, half nuts and washers from Namrick.
