Engine choice

Hi All,
Is anyone running with a fiat/lancia twincam? Having always preferred italian thoroughbreds to homegrown carthorses the idea of this engine appeals! How tight is it in the engine bay? Original gearbox or type 9? Pics anyone?

Chris, both Valtra and myself plus others on here run these.
See my photos but bear in mind mine has extra width because of the supercharger.
One of the few drawbacks is the overall height of the engine as they are relatively long stroke.
Also on www.guy-croft.com you should be able to see some other pics of installations and gather further info.
Parts availability so far not a problem as there were lots of them produced and Guy seems able to supply the more obscure ones. He's also a top man for help/advice.
Mine is mated to a 5 speed Fiat 131 box but type 9's are I think possible with an adaptor plate.
Be careful if you use the Lancia Beta twin cam version as this is an E/W layout and canted over at 22 degrees which gives problems if you try to sit it upright N/S!
It's worth thinking about having the flywheel lightened and fitting Pinto outer valve spring as this will allow more revs.
Keep us posted.
Cheers, Pewe
