Zetec Sump

Right then.....I'm trying to fit ARP bottom end bolts to my Zetec engined Phoenix.

Drained the oil (mostly all over the floor...which is another story). I have a Raceline sump which has 4 bolts on each side up into the main engine casting and two bolts from the gearbox housing into the sump (at least that is what it looks like).

I can't shift the bolts through the gearbox casing. The car is on axle stands and I simply can't get enough on it to shift them.

So the question is....do these bolts actually hold the sump on ? I haven't tried undoing the other 8 bolts yet...decided someone on here would know straight away.

Cheers for the help !

Unless the Raceline sump does not use all the tapped holes in the base of the block, there should be 10 vertical bolts holding the sump on.

I don't own Raceline sump, but looking at the photo of one on the Raceline website it does look as though there are 2 holes for lower bellhousing bolts.

Ummm....found the fitting instructions on the Raceline site.

I'm starting to come round to the idea of leaving it well alone. I'm guess that the orginal owner would have had ARP bolts put in if he was prepared to part with the dosh for the sump.

If they stretch it's an excuse to fit a Blacktop....
