Shortened Sump Dipstick!

Sorry not being rude! My question is what do you use for a dipstick in a shortened sump x-flow?

Regards.......Neil

A crossflow dipstick shortened the same amount as the sump.

If possible do not shorten the dipstick, you want to keep the same oil level in the sump.

+1

My sum is also shortened but no capacity is lost by adding extra capacity to the front of the sump, some do it to the side, therefore the oil level is the same

This may be a silly question then but does that mean I run the level "high" on the standard dipstick?

I think that if you put the dip stick in, you will find that it goes in just as far as it did originaly. Usually shortening the sump has no effect on the dip stick, as it's already shorter than the OEM sump. Cheers Ray

To clarify, when you shorten the sump you effectively move the bottom up, most add capacity to the side.

The top level of the oil does not change.

The top level/full mark on the dipstick is there to stop you filling up with to much oil causing the crank to splash into the oil.
