TINTOP: Zetec Gaining Revs

Ok having a little problem with my Tintop (1.8 MkI Focus) .

When driving and I dip the clutch the engine seems to rev up. Also when I lift off the throttle it seams to take an age to drop revs.

Have check Throttle cable and linkage and they are all free.

All suggestions welcome..

Point to note I had the Air box open today and cleaned the filter - car seems a wee bit better. MAF looks clean enough.

I had one do the same. Put a TPS on it and it solved it.

Also check idle control valve and make sure the throttle body is sealed on the manifold properly.

UPDaTE :

Went out and had a look today and found that the throttle cable linkage was sticking between the pedal and the throttle on the engine. So when I was lifting off it would take a few second for the cable to slowly slide back to zero reves

So new cable from FORD me thinks. Get tomorrow and will let you know
