Finally sorted my throttle - 1 year late !

I have been putting up with rotten throttle response at low speeds , and an unreliable tickover , ever since I put the V6 in .
I know my solution to linking two sets of TB's together wasnt perfect (1 side allways lagged behind the other just slightly on opening) , but I just never got round to sorting it out .
Until now .
Every waking moment since last Saturday morning has been devoted to making , fitting , testing , re-making , re-testing and generally banging my head against the garage wall until I had a flash of inspiration tonight - and the transformation is simply mind blowing
It feels like the throttle is connected to a mad V6 at last - no popping and spitting on light throttle , instant smooth power from the steady 800 RPM tickover right through to the 8000 RPM rev limit
I am one happy bunny ! ! !

Its great when something just works isn't it, does this mean bigger burn outs then??

Enlighten us then.

Have you sorted the ignition timing issue?

Still working on that one
I've tried a different edis on it , and it made no difference at all , so it's either a laptop or megasquirt glitch .
But it runs too well for it to be a major problem , so it will be this weekends task..........

Is this the problem where you don't see the timing change with RPM etc?

Thats just put a very scary image in my mind that I now cant shake

Glad you got one problem sorted claire. Hope you'll get your timing sorted for a week next tuesday for the next ashby folville meet and you can peel the tarmac up let alone leave rubber on it.

Yep - thats the one !
And also , I can alter the timing on the live tuning screen in megatune (from -4 to +80 degrees) and it has no effect at all - which has got me baffled

All along I have had the throttle cable connected to the right bank if TB's , with a link to the other set (which have the TPS on)
The flash of inspiration was simple - with the new linkage I have made , I can now put the cable on the `body with the TPS on - and it has solved the problem of it lagging behind pedal movement just a fraction .

Sounds like a good idea to me! It's one of those things which seems obvious once you've done it.

I'll update you on my coil experiment as soon as poss...

That tends to suggest the EDIS module is not seeing the SAW (Spark Advance Word) signal from the Megasquirt unit.

Thats what I thought - or maybe the edis has packed up ?
So I swap`d the edis - and then the power supply for my laptop packed in
It feels fine - but maybe it could be better - without knowing that megasquirt is controlling the ignition timing properly it is hard to work out what to try next

I'm working on a COP MS-controlled setup at the moment, using VB921 ignition drivers. They're not ideal, I'll be replacing them with BP373's as soon as I can afford to - the only reason I'm initially running the VB's is because I got 5 for free with my MS2 kit...?! (ebay).

Talking of which, I'm in need of a sixth to complete the set before I can actually run an engine with it.

I'm hoping that running the COPs will eliminate any noise or grounding issues with HT leads and any signal wires in close proximity... Maybe that's the issue? The setup will give full MS control of the spark rather than relying on the EDIS module - more room for getting things wrong, but at least you can see what's happening.

Also, COPs are cheap as chips.
