3.0/3.2 Alfa V6 + gearbox?
what gearbox would you use if you were putting an Alfa V6 in a kitcar application?
car you use the same gearbox for the 3.0 ltr V6 as well as the 3.2 ltr?
obviously these engines produce 200-250 bhp, torque is around 300 Nm, would a type 9 take it? and does it bolt straight on or would i need to get an
adaoter plate made?
cheers

...though no, it doesn't bolt straight on, because believe it or not, Mr Ford and Mr Alfa didn't get together over lunch and agree on a
standard inter-brand bellhousing bolt pattern.

What is this bell housing thing? I'd have thought that (theoretically at least) any gearbox would fit any engine with the exceptions of size and
bolt patterns...

The type 9 in my Alfa powered thing seems to be doing OK. Three English axles have popped and one Atlas, but the 'box has been fine!!
To fit the type 9 to the Alfa engine you need a couple of hours and a few bits of steel. Wave a welder at them and BINGO! A bellhousing!

Have a word with Johnmor.
He did a very nice adapter plate to go between a type-9 and the original alfa bellhousing:

do you have to change the length if the input shaft on the gearbox when fitting the adapter plate?

You can use an Alfa box which should bolt straight up. Only challenge will be to find one - a V6 Alfa 6 or Alfa 90 is RWD with a front mounted box
rather than a transaxle.
Both cars are cheap if you can find one or you could ring round a few Alfa specialists see if they have one on the shelf
