Engine/gearbox adaptors

Can anyone tell me how to make adaptors to make engines and gearboxes from different makes of cars fit each other, eg Vauxhall engine/ford box, V8/ford box etc or even the web address of were I can get one from.

There are a few things to watch out for when putting together an `odd` combination - on mine there was nowhere to mount the starter motor , so it had to go on the plate , and then a one-off flywheel was needed since there was barely enough room for the starter (the clutch had to move back 20mm , but the starter couldnt)

Pretty much anything can be joined to anything else but if you can avoid it why bother? If you have a blank canvas find an engine gearbox combo with an available bellhousing/adapter there are heaps available.

If you want to design your own but lack Clairtoo's skills or great big milling machine/laser cutter then you could design your own adapter using e-machineshop.com

so many bellhousings made now, means you won't need to look far for one already made, the first thing is to find the engine you want to use and then post here to find the bellhousing, a lot of engines are used in different cars by different makers, so very often, e.g. the ford v6 duratec as fitted to mondeo st. is same engine as base model jag S TYPE and jag do a 5 speed fitting it inline not transverse, lots of other options like this if you know where to look.
