Zetec coil pack question

I have a zetec 1.8 fitted in a 53 plate focus, the coil pack sits ontop of the engine to the right and is a single unit with the 4 leads coming out of it, is there one coil that supplies the power, or are there induvidual coils for each plug inside?? I ask because i may have a weak spark on cylinder 3. Any idea how to check???

There are two double ended coils. The Focus uses the "wasted spark" system e.g. Cylinders 1 & 4 spark at the same time, as do cylinders 2 & 3.

Yes. If the spark is weak on only one cylinder only it's more likely to be the lead or the plug.

Also check that water hasn't got into the turret on the coil pack.

All ok, new leads and plugs, looks like a knackered injector

Id try and get a new coil to borrow and try. They are very common to fail on zetecs.
