Zetec SE
I'm a fan of Sylvas - like you couldn't tell.
I'm really a fan of the Riot. I reckon it's the future of a lightweight two seater open topped car. There's no front engine / RWD
donors left which are suitable any more.
Hadn't really thought much about the Zetec Se up to now, but this little vid might make me want to change my mind about that.
ZETEC SE 1.6 on throttle bodies on the Emerald rollers - 191bhp.
That could be a pretty effective combo.

That's a lot of power out of a 1.6 (about 92bhp more than in standard road car trim).
Edit: Spectre is prettier, but I agree with your point about donors. Only big saloon running gear left now, which doesn't suit a 7 IMO.

Not that keen on the SE engine...odd construction means it's not the simplest thing to work on and they don't seem the most robust units
in roads cars let alone tuned. I guess the back to front cylinder head works in it's favour for mid engined installations like the Riot
though.
I reckon a better, and even more overlooked choice is the 1.6 Ecotec engine. Like it's older brother the 20XE it is pretty strangled by the
original induction and exhaust in stock form which means you can extract plenty of extra power without having to open the engine. Uses the same
bellhousing as the 20XE as well and suitable Type9 bellhousings are easily available for front engined RWD applications.
