Prop Conversion....Costs??
Hi all....been quoted approx £125 +VAT to remove donut from my prop, add universal joint and type 9 shaft, make to required length & balancing.
Company is local to me so no delivery charges....good value or not as I've no idea on costs for this sort of work?
Thanks,
Matt

Give Propshaft Services, Feltham 0208 8442265 a ring for price comp.
Their service was excellent and prices v. competitive when they replaced a UJ on mine with a bigger one.
Cheers, Pewe

Just got mine from D&F leeds, dropped old Mk 2 Escort one off and they made a new one for around the same price as you have been quoted.
Also before you do - some issues i had:
i had 2 lying about along with 2 live axles - they looked identical but diff flanges were different sizes ---and we fitted one axle to the car and
took 1 of the props as a template for the new one (Type9 4sp splines etc..) and it led to a lot of head scratching, as we got them mixed up.
but luckily the diff flanges are interchangeable and new prop fitted!
measure twice, cut once, scrap it, start again.

same here. i'd just get a new one made for the same price
just tell them what diff/axle you have, and the distance between the diff flange and oil seal on the back of the gearbox, job done
