Should i be cleaning my air filter

my car has been running with bike carbs for about a year and half now (2000 miles) and i'm wondering when i should be cleaning my filter. It is a sausage pipercross filter as in this pic

Also what should i clean it with and how often should i oil it. is a kit like this any good LINK or should i just use a bit of washing up liquid and buy a cheap spray oil from halfrauds and co.

Thanks

I don't know if this stuff is expensive, but I would say: replace with new

I would clean and re oil once a year as part of a routine service.

Piper make a cleaner too link

For how much it costs better to protect the engine
