smiths oil gauge thread

Morning!

Going to buy an adaptor from think auto to screw my oil gauge in to the block today.

I know the block thread I'm using is M14 x 1.5 but does anyone know what male thread is on the end of the pickup pipe for the smiths gauges?

while im at it, does anyone have wiring diagrams for a smiths electronic speedo and the rev counter? I wasn't expecting a loom coming off the back of both of them!

The oil pressure gauge thread always used to be 1/4 BSP on smiths gauges.

1/8 npt according to think auto although oddly they couldn't sell me an adaptor that wasn't a T-piece.

Just bought one elsewhere for a tidy £8.50 :O

it depends which smith speedo it is, but I should have wiring diagrams still from all my gauges. but can't get till weekend.

Otherwise try googling it, I think there was somewhere that had them.

okay so I stupidly bought the wrong adaptor.

Does anyone know why the fitting on the end of the capillary pipe on my oil pressure gauge is female?

How does anyone manage to fit it to the block?

for me to fit it I now need a 1/8 npt male to m14 male adaptor which I can't find on the net.

Could anyone make one or know where to get one?

ETA - found one! £15 though, ouch.

ETA II - wait whats the difference between npt and bsp? will a 1/8 bsp male end screw into a 1/8 npt female end?

ETA III - aww looks like I can't use the one I found, so alternatives welcome

ETA IV - hmm I wonder if I've got mixed up and the smiths gauge thread is actually BSP...
