In situ core plug repair, any recommendations?
Have a Xantia HDI diesel, a small leak developed yesterday, took it to my Citroen guy who located the leak in a very hard to access core plug, on the
rear of the head.
The head would have to come off to replace , which is just not worth it (£900) .
He has put some Wurth Radiator Repair HD in which has temporarily stopped the leak.
I was wondering about putting some epoxy /steel type putty in the outside recess of the core plug.
Any suggestions , success stories??

I fixed a leaking core plug on my V8 with JB weld. Had to apply it in layers 24hrs appart - lasted 6 months before leaking again - then replaced core
plug. Must get it totally clean and dry to work.

I don't know if they sell them in the UK, but there are bolt on Welch plugs here in North America.
Consists of a plug with a bolt in the centre and a plate that goes through the hole in the block which is then clamped between the inner and outer
surfaces of the block, the plug usually has an O-ring gasket as well.

Use a "patch" to go with the JB Weld - anything in your pocket with the queens head on it will do..as long as its slightly smaller than
the core plug recess.
Get it dry and clean, JB Weld, 24 hours and Robert's your mother's brother..there' a race engine with a JB Weld repair still holding
2 seasons later that i helped fix..
Long live RWD...
