Isn't there a diesel version of the same clutch ?
It's usually the first port of call if you're after a heavy duty item.

i'd have thought the sd1 clutch was more than up to the job. the sd1's a heavy car, and your car will be a lot lighter

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Yes i thought that at first, but the o series that was fitted to the sd1 2000 didnt produce 200 ft/lb torque

how did it fail - catastrophic or slipping more and more?
Was the clutch new when you fitted it, or recycled?

The clutch was new in a box but i remember thinking mmmhhh this looks crap....600 miles and its slipping under boost, just got me thinking about
wether the hydraulic system may be faulty in some way?

there's two ways round that then. check you haven't got the release preloaded, ie the it's loose when clutch pedal not pressed. If
not, back off the push rod. If that's ok, then you need a pressure plate with higher clamping pressure - unfortunately I don't fancy your
chances of finding one....
Might be easier to upgrade.
For info, there is a SD1 2600 (i think) in the scrappy at earlswood which might source the flywheel starter and all.

For a one-stop-unblowupable clutch, then Helix might be worth a call.
216mm or 241mm clutch? I suspect the 216 if its gone already. Just had a look in my catalogue and the 2000 SD1 isn't listed, but found the
Sherpa instead which came a 216mm (4 speed) or 241mm (5 speed) one..
The 241mm one is the same as the V8
