V plate or earlier Escorts will be mk1 or mk2. I used to own one on a W but there are W plate mk3's aswell. As for the others I hope someone else can enlighten you.

mark 3 cortina's had them but only in low spec models, I think that GL's GLX's etc all had pinto's in them, and i'm sure the same applies to mk2 capri's (which will have the correct drive axle ,Mk3 cortina's don't), if it's just an engine you are looking for try contacting your local F2 stock car racers, these guys use rwd escort drive axles with 2.0 pinto's . They may have the remains of the donor cars which for stock car racing is no use to them

Wont do that will do more like 45 mph with 12 people and 2 pilots. Uses 450hp deisel and jet drive. There are two pleasure trips too.

If you know the area where would be good place to find X Flow or is private still best?

I found my first escort MK2 with a 13oo x/flow by placing adds in local newsagents,as suggested in "build your own sportscar"
Not sure where the breakers are around your way, isnt there banger racing in bournemouth?
