Zetec Coolant Sensor

Picked up a coolant sensor from the scrappy yesterday to use as air temp sensor on my MS conversion.

The plastic bit with the terminals and connectors freely rotates round inside the brass nut and temp sensor bit.
Is this normal or have I buggered it with the adjustable and freezing temps when I removed it?

Not ment to rotate, at the very best you wil hav poor conductivity of heat, worst no connection.
