xflow rear oil seal orientation

Hello,

I've just confused myself. The rear oil seal on the crossflow fits to the carrier, which then bolts onto the engine. Which way around does the seal go?

The closed side pointing rearwards? (Ie, nearest the flywheel)

or closed side forwards?

I forgot to look when i took it off...

The closed side faces towards the flywheel.

I used the old one and a vice to press the new one in. Make sure the spring is seated in the seal properly too!
