RX8 Powered Tiger Avon is Born

My cousin and I started our next project today. He has sourced a Tiger Avon rolling chassis. We like anything rotary so the next thing was to throw in an RX8 engine and 6 speed box (higher power model)

The car is going to be a track car and is unlikely to be road registered but we will see how it goes.

Pics taken with my phone so not brilliant.

We will trying to put the engine as far back as possible and keep things fairly light. I reckon the RX8 engine should be a good package with 230 odd bhp and 180 ftlbs and a 9500 rev limit.

Oh holly crap That is going to be a scary beast....

pity the rotarys got such a big bellhousing....cut some of the passengers footwell away and that should do for the starter lump.

That looks as though it fits quite well. How much chassis chopping have you had to do for the bellhousing?

we have already chopped an inch out of the passenger foot well, we are also going to shorten it by 4 inches to allow for the starter. It doesnt matter if the passenger is uncomfortable

At least its just the inlet gubbings which is far easier to modify than a cylinder head from a straight 4. The engine mass should be lower with the rotary as well?

I'm doing the complete opposite and using the car chassis and ditching the rotary engine!

Have you decided what you're doing with the Oil Metering Pump? When I was going down the RX8 route, the general consensus was just to run pre-mix fuel as there was no commonly available control unit for the OMP? Has that situation changed?

i always run premix on modified rotaries, its much better for the engine, but as far as i know, there isnt an ecu that will run the omp.
