needing help again...

looks like im beaten....got my new coil and after a fiddle with the points managed to get a spark, all be it a very week one....why????

i thought a points system would be easy to prove my engine runs but it just isnt happening.... i have new cap, arm, leads and plugs....cleaned the points and set them to 0.015"....checked the timing, all is good....set the car on jump leads from my tin top to assist the battery....

turns over, my inline spark tester shows a spark, but when you take the plug out it is very week....

arrrrrgh!!!!

WHY WHY WHY WONT IT WORK!!!!

(sorry..just getting a little frustrated and cant afford an auto spark to come out and look at it)

thanks for any help with this

i tried using spark leads to turn my engine over. smoke came out the leads, and the engine turned very slow. i guess the spark would have been weak too.

i'd try putting the battery right on properly and try again

Are you running a unballasted coil on an ballasted setup?

The coil may need 12v but is only getting 9v except when the starter is running

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

beatento it

ofcourse it would, not sure why you would remove it.

it serves to preven t arcing across the points plus help pump energy back into the coil.
