I had one, easy to install and plenty of power too.

Sounds great too.

Lots of info on here if you search, usefull if your stuck with wiring etc etc.

You wont be dissapointed.

loco boy so how strong is the 4xv if its not going to take a little stick then that worries me ..

how much can the gearbox cope with ???

4xv gearbox has a weak 1st &2nd gear, it's down to the selector fork bending and sometimes the 2nd gear can let go. 5jj models had a re-designed gearbox with a taller 1st gear (to calm the wheely prone nature of the bike) The 5jj engine is exactly the same to look at as the earier 4xv and use's the same engine mountings, fit a good quality aftermarket timing chain tensioner, the std one can fail at high revs, usually by over reving the engine going down the gearbox too fast. Mine let go at Nogaro circiuit when I was doing some winter testing, resulting in 12 bent valves!

Had a 4xv in my car for around five years now first two years as a standard engine last three turbocharged made 257hp on its only dyno run thats a standard 99 engine with just a cometic 1.6mm headgasket fitted, its never let me down yet so i would have to say don't be frightened off by all the story's on weak gearboxes ect.

It had done 8k when i got it its done another 10-12k in the car half of that turboed.

I drive it hard but don't abuse the gearbox, i striped it down this winter, was starting to get noisey (transmission wine) so thinking it was developing a gearbox problem thought i had better have a look couldn't find anything wrong! turned out it was the diff bearings.

Was with the turbo fitted 12.1sec 1/4 is my best time @ 117mph recon i can get into the 11's now ive got decent tyres.
