Problems with 2.0l zetec blacktop

Help!
I have a 2.0l zetec blacktop with r6 throttle bodies which has been running perfect for ages untill this weekend. I took the car out for a short drive and half way round I noticed that the car was running really lumpy. I was experiencing lack off accelaration and that it sounded like a tractor. Once I got home I had a quick check of the spark plugs to check for build up because I assumed that it may be running on 3 cylinders. I cleaned them up and left it untill the morning to restart the engine. The next morning when I tryed starting the car up it wouldnt, it seemed like there was no fuel, so on the second attempt I gave it a lil bit of gas and a loud bang came from the throttle bodies and they started smoking!

Can any tell me what the problem might be? I haven't tryed to restart the car invade of any more damage.

Timing slipped out, are you using a toothed wheel any where?

Carb jet blocked?

Zetecs are very sensitive to plugs due to the 60K voltage in the coil pack, a back fire can kill them.

Worth chuckign a new set in, check teh cam timing and try again.

I'm going to chuck a new set of plugs in tomorrow night and I will keep the situation posted. The plugs show that the engine is overfueling. I may get the r6 throttle bodies balanced to see if that's make it run like a sack of poo

Spark plugs changed but still very lumpy. The exhaust needs repacking so im going to do that next but I highly doubt that it will solve my lumpy problem.

Could it be that my r6 throttle bodies need rebalacing? because ive herd if they become unbalanced it will make the car not run propperly.

Or is there anything I could do using Megasquirt?

The car is booked in at Noble Motorsport next weekend for a rolling road session and full set up. Let's hope this cures it

I would heartiuly recommend fixing your problem before you get to the rolling road. RR time is expensive and, if you have bust your coil (same happened to my Mondeo a month ago), they may not have a spare to replace it.

here's one:
ebay
cheap and, if it makes no difference, you're only a few quid out of pocket.

Just fitted an new coil pack, seems to be a little bit better but is still lumpy and does'nt seem as keen as it usually does accelaraton wise.

Im thinking it may just need setting up and a good tune
