You need to look up shawspeed.com - they specialise with the SE by all accounts, very light, very revvy and can get to about 200bhp.
Their web site is being updated but they are very good.
Apartently the standard head is good for 220bhp.
I looking to use one too
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

Don't forget the Puma 1.7VCT engine... It's basically a Zetec SE with 125bhp out of the box.
Shawspeed seem to concentrate on the 1600 though, and get good returns from it!

I had one turbod once, made 145bhp 140lb/ft but blew up 3 times, melted valves twice, pistons and block once, cost £2500 to do, such a waste of time
when I look back........ also know of a serious engine of this sort that didn't really pan out £ for bhp either - in the link below
Read through this as it was semi-discussed before: Should you bother?

I run a 1.7 puma engine and it gives 220bhp all day long in modified form. Head flow is good for 240 brake according to engine builder
Mine is dry sumped, steel rods, cammed and running on Jenvey 45s with an Emerald ECU.

as regards the turbo one it cannot have been mapped right or setup right at all to do that,
