Diff oil

Does superlightweight shockproof oil evaporate or something?

went to "top up" my diff with some heavier oil (had a little clunking on taking up the backlash and couldn't decide whether this was not having a cush drive or just slightly worn diff or using superlightweight oil)

Ended up putting almost a whole container full of redline in it.

No sign (at all ever since I build the car) of the diff oil leaking anywhere. No sign of leakage out of the bearings. But it must be going somewhere!!

On a related note, how do you tell when a diff is shagged?

You'll slowly lose it out of the breather as mist, but should be very slow.

Other place on sierra diff is around the half shaft seals.

Looks like it's mist only as no dripping has been occuring. Looks like the superlightweight misted quite easily!!!
