Clutch recommendation...

Well its happened...

The clutch in my car is a standard Mk1 Mondeo 1.8 item. Cost £20 off the bay.

Saturday night went for it past a big Merc hitting the rev limiter in 2nd I rammed it up and the revs stayed high... soon realised it was in fifth and the smell of barbecued clutch plate soon confirmed the lack of any more acceleration.

So, while its still working OK I think I need a new one.

I need a cheap, good clutch that will fit a standard 1.8 zetec flywheel and can cope with about 200lb/f.

Any suggestions?

Steve

Keep it as it is, at least I'd be able to keep up with you set of loonies!

Take care

Transit clutch plate, 240mm plate, ment to be strong, able to take a cosworth 2.9 engine.

220mm clutch, should be anyway.

Look for an AP racing RS turbo clutch cover and a pinto friction plate.

Sorted

Have the 1.8 zetec flywheel redrilled for an uprated pinto clutch cover and organic plate from Retro Ford. Cheap and effective. Good for 200bhp for the last 3 years in mine including sprints and trackdays.
