Decisions decisions

I wonder if any of you smart chaps / chapesses can help me? I am looking to replace my 'ikle x-flow engine over the winter and I originally bought a 4AGE engine to power up in readiness.

On investigation the cost for the horses I was looking for was more then I want to afford. So I am looking at the Zetec option.

On paper the Zetec is significantly cheaper per horse then the 4AGE

Now to the question I need to sanity check the costs. Does anyone know a good engine builder who could refresh the 4AGE. I am happy to deliver to the company.

Any / all help gretefully received.

............. Neil

Almost certainly cheaper to get another S/H engine than recon a 4AGE.

Bearing in mind that a Zetec will bolt straight on to your bell housing, and that they are very cheap to start with I'm confident that the Zetec will be the cheapest option

Not sure how many horses you are looking for but i would also say zetec would be a better idea. Better choice of upgrades and should be a fairly easy swap.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I was in the same position last year with my 1700 X Flow Westfield.

I looked at the 4AGE but finding a decent one was costly.
Then i took a test drive in a Westfield with an XE, i wasn't impressed and researched costs to get more bhp, which was very expensive.
Next up was a 1700 puma engine, this was very tempting.

In the end i went for BEC.... but that doesnt suit everyone.
