Best Way to Get a 2 litre Zetec Running
Hi All,
I've all but decided to go for a 2 litre Zetec in my next project and I'll be hoping to use it everyday so it has to be reliable.
So my question is, what is the best way to get the Zetec running?
Is it best to keep the original Ford injection etc.?
or go for carbs and Megajolt and such?
Anyone have any advice please?
Ta!

Wait there.
Big Wasa will be along in a minute to give you the lowdown on running stock injection with no mods required other than to the loom.

You will get many an opinion on this. There are other factors such as cost and performance.
I like the ford ecu/inj as its cheap, reliable, an allrounder. Thats not to say a set of jenveys and omex ecu wont be relaible but it will cost you
two grand plus mapping.

Using the Ford ecu, either de-immobilised or complete with the key, transponder etc, is a good start.
Use the Spencer Ashley inlet manifold, it takes the standard Ford bits, injectors, fuel rail, throttle body etc, and costs around £225 I believe, and
it fits under a 7 bonnet.

Where can we find information on and purchase these Spencer Ashlety inlet manifolds? Are they made byt the same people who make the Ashley exhausts?

They wont take the idle controle valve and unless quality has improved I wouldnt be spending my cash on one.
It would be cheaper to put an extra uj in the steering down link and use the ford manifold.

Having another look at it, it does say designed to run with 3d management, so that will be megasquirt I guess (I was mistaken when I said ford ecu
above)
Quality wise, the one I saw looked very nice, what did you think was wrong with it?

Quality of the welding.
when they first started doing them on ebay I asked for some detailed pics.
There was a follow up post on here from a guy that had bought one. The welding was again shocking and not air tight.
The quality may have improved ?????
