silvertop 95

Hi Guys, ive a 1995 silvertop 1.8 which will have zr6 carbs fitted.........If i offer this up for iva,would it fail on emmisions? also would i need to fit a catalyst?

I will be using megajolt and the cams will be from the 2litre.

hi bud,

do you have evidence of when it was produced in 1995, i.e. what month?

If no, or if it was after august then you'll need to be fitting a cat to get it through IVA. Otherwise you should be able to get it through without.

like craig says you'll need to be able to prove when it was made - but since its a ford, take the first 2 letters of the engine code and looke them up here: linky
you might still need some offical letter to state that, but some people have managed with the page out of that cataloge

Thanks for the replies guys, ive managed to locate the "new keeper supplement"which states it was registered in 08 03 1995.......and i do have a copy of the reg docits at work which will show the vin number.

its the engine number thats important so best to check whats actually stamped on the block (incase the donor has had a new one at somepoint in its life)

checked block at work.....seems to just have cast numbers etc an 1.8 on it......any idea where its located?

^^ according to mr haynes it should be stamped on the front of the block somewhere....
(2 letters then 5 numbers)

Chthe vin info which states its a "seers again, Ill check it out in the morning. ive found the vin docits which states its a "sc" block if it marrys up with the block then its a January 95 engine....wahoooo! THanks again for your input.

Engine number is stamped on the block nearside beside the VR sensor.

You need to send it to Ford Technical Dept to get a letter to prove when it was built.
