oil pressure

Just fitted my oil pressure sender (ETB) the pressure on tickover is showing about 75 psi. What should it be?

I think mine is 50-60psi, 3.5-4 bar with the sbd nylon release valve.

Apparently the XEs can have pretty high pressures sometimes though.

Better to have 75psi than 0

Thanks, Craig - I have connected all the crankcase and rocker breathers pretty much as standard except for modifying the plate inside the rocker as per SBD's advice. I am only running the engine for a few seconds at the moment - Andy B is currently fitting bits to my silencer.

Regards, Steve

With cold oil 75psi sounds fine. It will drop a lot as the oil warms

Mines idles at 80psi cold and 55 hot. Also watch out when cold that if you over rev it and the pressure valve sticks then you will lose pressure
Normally mines runs around 75 to 80 on the road hot.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Franky if your engine is an xe then you really need to check/clean/replace your relief valve mate. Or the oil pump/bearings are well worn.

Thanks for all replies, guys - I will find out how it runs when hot on wednesday when Andy B sends my modified silencer back - until then, can't annoy the neighbours too much, can we?

Its not an xe, I just find it amazing the differing oil pressures between various engines.
