duratec engine whine
The optom's 55 plate focus 1.6 has developed a whine from the engine, to me it sounds like a belt slipping/rubbing, as it changes in tone as the
revs rise, i may have imagined a smell of burning rubber. to make things worse the bonnet catch is dodgey and we can't get it open. Does this
engine have any common issues with aux belts slipping/coming off the pulleys. its only done 55k.
I reckon she'll be alright to get home in it, 30 miles including a stretch on the m6. any thoughts. if it goes pop its not going to foul
anything important is it?

no commen fault for those symptons, and its a zetec se sigma engine not a duratec
