Propshaft Universal joint life expectancy
Having sent my propshaft to D&F to get 30mm added as in my previous thread
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=151762
i also asked them to give the prop a checking over, well they called today to say that they've replaced the center bearing a center uni joint
and a front uni joint
now the prop is only 2 years old with about 4,000miles
He said it's not uncommon if they've been on a track and so and so
i didn't think propshafts wear that quick?

I've met John Dunning at his factory when I picked up my prop, He was a nice straight forward chap didn't give me the impression he would
rip anyone off. Seems to know his stuff.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

Surely depends on the design and size of your shaft. Prop shaft in my car is 20 years, 150K miles old but it is a monster and weighs a ton but has
never been replaced/repaired?

the thing is that running it on the wobble couldn't have done it much good. usually the gap between worn and failure on a prop is pretty big.

No, the wobble was only after i changed the engine i've not driven it yet! i only noticed the wobble when i tried to set up the speed sensor in
the garage
I know they've changed what needed to be changed my question was more life expectancy, if i didn't need the prop lengthening i
woulnd't have know the other parts were worn as it wasn't noisy when i had it on the road with the R1 engine
and it's only done the 4,000miles from new and it's TRT
