Type 9 Saddle failure = Notchy Change?

Hi

As per title really, am I right in thinking if the gearchange suddenly starts to go very notchy, the box otherwise seems good it's got fresh oil in it - the saddle/rail clip would be the first point of call before getting all worried and starting to consider removing box's from cars etc etc?

Or have I got this nugget of info totally confused in the old grey matter with a different gearbox?

Thanks

I'd love to give my imaginary friend a great big hug,

but this jacket makes it impossible.
