Smoky 1300 crossflow - why?
For my sins I now have a historic race car that runs a 1300 crossflow.
I know little about crossflow engines so some information would be great.
Hot or cold there is a small amount of blue smoke that comes from the breather pipe from the rocker cover and also from the exhaust.
Likely cause:
Valve stem seals?
Piston rings?

Because the pistons are heavy xflos are a bit prone to bore wear also as they came from the factory the head has no valve guides the valves run
directly in the head casting.

Make sure you have 20w50 oil (Valvoline is the best IIRC), top tip given to me on here, helps a bit but basically they're just like that, mine
was anyway.
I'm not saying 20w50 is thick but you have to put it in with a cheese grater
