Emissions on modern V's, difficult?
Havng recently got a bargain on a nice big modern V I'm wondering how hard it will be to pass the OEM emissions test with a squirt and some
universal cats - has anyone any experience?

fair point. Was thinking V8's, primarily Audi's 4.2, but similar engines would count.

Damn, didn't think of v8 or v10
Why are you worried.
The manufacturers manage it without any problems, just copy them and use a cat etc.
I'd worry more about v twin bikes where the emission rules are a bit lazy.

Worried as I am trying to identify how much I can "get away with". I'm trying to see what sizes of cats are available (meow!) and
how effective they are. I've seen a few posts on here where people have used multiple cats in series I think, which would get costly with a big
V8, and I'm trying to minimise packaging problems. Just trying to get a handle on what I need I guess, save me having to do it twice.

Maybe I'm confused here but, your first post says you've just GOT a big V and your second says you're THINKING about an Audi V8....

You'll have to (further) excuse my ignorance, but why would a 'V' engine have a different emissions output from that of an inline
engine with the same number of cylinders?

Jesus - talk about taking things literally
I've GOT a V8 (ordered). I'm thinking about V8s in general and whether they're harder to get through emissions, especially large
ones, in comparison with say small highly strung 4 pot turbos. I can't think of many reasons for them to be so but I'm trying to limit my
surprises I've never worked with an engine larger than 2 litre before
