Head work in the Coventry area
Now the cars off the road for winter I'm looking at fitting some pipe 285 cams I have. Can anyone recommend an engine tuners to port , polish
and flow bench my silvertop head?
Also has anyone had this work done and can give a rough price to budget for?

I used cylinder head developments in Bromsgrove for my Pinto, couldn't fault the service, but be warned it ain't a cheap process think
mine was ~£700.

£700 for a head port an polish?? My god if it's going to cost that much combined with the cam shafts , bottom end bolts and sundries the extra
25 or so horses isn't worth it.
Ive heard of chess mans Motorsport. Anyone heard of them?

geez £700 on a pinto.............. thats a new 2.0 zetec or one of may other second hand mental power engine choices

Roy is semi-retired but does take on the occasional bit of work - he does a lot of the specialised head works for the local Coventry tuners and likes
to keep a low profile to keep his work load light.
You will not need much work on the silver top just throats and casting tidy up to match to those cams.

Also worth looking at Autosprint nr Cov, Geoffs work is top notch, defo no BS!

a 16v is never going to be cheap and i accept a proven profesional flow bench job will be best but why not a DIY job, done mine with milder 270 newman
cams for 173bhp. Also might need the tappet area 'relieving' a bit with 285cams to enable the extra lift to clear so may be worth taking
the cams along to to check

So the DIY job option: I've done a lot of fabrication work so very comfortable having a go but what equipment am I going to need ?
I don't have a compressor and now only a decent battery dill.
