Emission Problems....
Hi all!,
The life of a kitcar builder.... :-) or :-(.....
I got the car round to a friends MOT station today and it didn't go well....
The emissions are all over the place but the biggest concern was that the O2 reading was nearly 10%... The car does not run well at low down RPM so I
have some work to do.. The car was mapped with an O2 sensor in the exhaust just in front of the Cat and the tuner said that the Lambda was 1.0... The
innovate sensor I have is nearer the manifold however he had problems getting this to run in closed loop... so I need to work on this....
I guess O2 is high because it is running lean although I haven't taken the exhaust off since the setup so the emission test up the tail pipe
should not be showing the car running lean.
I know not much info but any ideas where I should be looking?
thanks

What were the C.O. and the hydrocarbons reading ??

I think this was Idle
CO = 0.22%
HC = 914ppm
CO2 Level = 11.15%
O2 Level = 5.73%
Lambda = 1.28
Then @ about 3000 RPM
CO = 0.09%
HC = 851ppm
CO2 Level = 9.7%
O2 Level = 7.66%
Lambda = 1.47
Thanks

Fast idle it's running too weak or not burning the fuel effieciently , the hydrocarbons are way too high as is the lambda reading. Richening it
up a bit may?? drop the hydocarbons as well as the lambda reading. High hydrocarbons could mean a misfire and high lambda running weak or possibly a
slight exhaust leak

Thanks.... I have another map with the sequential ignition and VVT switched off....
It does seem to miss fire and pop at low down revs....
