Cooling help on a rover v8

Hi so most of the stuff i can scan on the internet the v8's are not connected to the matrix. However in my hilux i am running a 3.5 rover v8 with an edelbrock carb. First question is does the bypass on thermostat T off from the top hose? And secondly as per my little doodle where does the return from the matrix run?Bottom hose T?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Spen

Bypass on the tee needs to go to either an expansion tank or top of the radiator (my preference)

It needs to be a small bore pipe, maybe 6mm as it's purpose is to bubble off steam from hot heads.

You should have 2 x 1/2" conns on the water pump - the one in the valley behind the pump goes to the T stat connection. Thats the bypass until the stat opens - the 1/2 flow on the rear of the manifold goes to the matrix and the matrix goes to the 1/2" return on the water pump inlet connection.

The header tank should be connected to a tee into the return hose from the rad as close as possible to the pump inlet. Bleeds to the expansion tank depends on the height of the rad and other aspects of the installation.

Go to V8 forum and have a read = everything is there.

Andrew

Thanks for the great replies gents. I will t into my top hose the bypass as using standard rad which stands tall over engine to bleed. And yes I think im with you on the matrix plumbing. Being a bit simple.lol. In the near future I will have a purpose built ally rad from Shangai but moving in a month so need her running to move to new house!

Sorry last silly question. I forgot to mention that I have an Offenhauser manifold. So there is no bypass fitted. On the thermostat housing I am buying there is the bypass welded on. I was going to connect this to the top hose to keep heater circulating and steam off heads. So as I only have one opening on back of water pump as other is corred can I connect heater return to this?
Thanks for your patience.
