1.8 silvertop to 1.8 blacktop swap
Hi Folks
Is it s hard job to swap a 1.8 silvertop engine running carbs to a 1.8 blacktop and use all my old stuff carbs exhaust etc any help would be super

Not hard, just a few bits to fettle. Bit of cutting fettling to the sump to get the starter in.
If the water pump pulley is smooth then you'll need an idler to run it the correct way.
Nearside engine mount is different, little bit more fettling.
Alternator mounting may need making to fit depending on what you have currently.

Inlet and outlet are a direct swap.
O/s engine mount is a direct swap but N/s is a little different but I cant remember why.
S/T top sump will fit the B/T but you need 4 20mm spacers and the four silver top crank cap bolts to space the windage tray.
The water pump needs an idler as there is no uk oem reverse water pump. (There is an aftermarket impellor).
Alternator should fit the same but see above as you will need a different belt.

N/S engine mount to block is different due to relocation of the block threads for the provision of the A/C pump bracket.

Thank you very much for all your replys is there different outputs in the blacktop or are the internals all the same no matter what year cheers

The head is said to be a little more efficient with the standard bhp up a little but that could be down to software.
