R1 Clocks

Have just bought a brand new 04 model R1 engine. Does anyone know whether it is ok to use the original clocks or whether I will need to put another unit in?

Thanks

Apparently it's simple and best to use the orig clocks and some people use the bike wiring harness to do the whole car!! You will have to extend a couple of wires (usually the lights) but it's easier and cheaper than buying/fitting another wiring loom.

Thanks Andy

Do you know how I get the pick up for the speedo reading? Does it go off the prop shaft? How accurate is it?

Thanks
Ben

If it's the same as the 2003 R1 (and most newer bikes) the pickup comes from the bike gearbox.

Then all you need is a speedohealer (about £65) to change the pulses to a suitable reading for your transmission/wheels.
