Zetec fuel plumbing

I'm after some thoughts on the order to plumb in my Zetec fuel system.
I am using fuel inj system. The necessary components are: The fuel tank, Pacet silver top low pressure pump, external swirl pot, high pressure pump and inj filter.
What I am musing over is:
1. Do I need a low pressure filter as well between the tank and the Pacet or is the filter in the pump good enough?
2. Should the high pressure filter go between the high pressure pump and the injectors or between the swirl pot and the pump?
3. Should the fuel return go back to the tank or the swirl pot? There seems to be two schools of thought on this one and I'm not sure which to go with. One says the returning fuel is hot and should return to the main tank, which is vented. The other that returning it to the swirl pot will cause the low pressure pump to work less. Both are physically true but which is best?
I would like to hear the opinions of anyone who has knowledge in this area.
Thanks in advance

You don't have to run a swirl tank. Most locost tanks are tall and slim so with baffles fitted seem to work fine. I've never had problems with mine. Standard car tanks are normally flatter so fuel sloshes about more. If you do go for just a high pressure pump and baffled tank then always put a low pressure filter before the pump, they block very easy, and also a filter on the high pressure side before the injectors.

If you do fit a swirl tank them put the low pressure filter between the tank and low pressure pump.

I would have the fuel return going to the main tank as bubbles can form due to the speed the fuel is pumped back, going back to the tank they have a chance to escape, rather than getting into the high presure feed again.

I have a filter before my pacet - as I understand it, any dirt in the tank and a solidstate pacet will die pretty quickly without out one.

HP Filter should be labelled as either pre- or post-pump. Mine is pre-pump.

My return line goes back to the swirlpot and I've not noticed any problems. The swirlpot has a separate return to the tank.

If you have a separate line going from (presumably the top) of the swirl pot to the tank then the swirl pot will not pressurise and the Pacet will run continuously. Are they designed to do this? as they were originally a carburettor pump.
