Who's nicked all the sierras?
Firstly apolopgies for covering this subject yet yet again.
I have now pretty much built my first GTS chassis and approaching the point at which I need some parts to bolt on. This is where my problem begins.
After reading many threads on this subject I decided an early Carb pinto Sierra was my simplist and cheapest option using one donar for all parts.
However they all seem to have dissapeared. The later DOHC ones are still here but I am reluctant to fit this engine. Which brings me to my relevent
point.
Firtly I beleive the late sierras have the MT75 gearbox. Will this fit my chassis? (With the view of fitting a 1.8 zetec.)
I also quite fancy the Vauxhall 2.0 16v but will the carlton gearbox fit?
I hadnt planned for this little hicup at all so any suggestions would be great. (Obviously my wallet is the largest priority)

Firstly Tin worm have robbed all the early Sierras
Have you built your own to Darrens drawings or have you purchased it?
You can stick the box straight in but its not a good all-round position.
Ive made my chassis to the Gts drawings (well sort off ) ..I wanted more room for R tube and alternator ,also to get engine back in the bay ive made
the tunnel 19mm wider into the pasenger side.To do this,I moved G1 over 50mm to clear starter motor and H over 25mm ..
Im using a live back end so used the book tunnel drawings..if going irs you could move the whole tunnel over and give you more room...
Still working on the changes but pic shows zetec with mt75 box in bay with just H moved 25mm

Blimey that box looks huge!!!
I've built a carbon copy of Darrens drawings. Painted it last weekend. Doh!! But still I'd rather modify the chassis now rather than
later. Is it possible to keep atandard injection/ignition sytem? To keep cost down.
I do have a Merc 2.6 straight 6 and gearbox but think this is far too long. Also have a mashed Merc 2.5-16 engine. May be worth a measure.

There are loads of Sierras here in Birmingham. I'd never noticed them until I started my build. Now, I go out and play "spot the
donor".

I'm using a GTS standard chassis and am not only using the MT75 box but also the DOHC engine .

So it appears that I have 3 possable options without too much greif.
1) Move to Birmingham.
2) Vauxhall 2.0 16v with Carlton box
3) 1.8 Zetec with MT75 box
I imagine performance figures, engine weights/size and tuning parts, relibility are very similar between both set ups. so which is best suited for
this design? (I wish to keep fuel injection and electronic ignition, purely because of personal preference.)

Theres a sierra abandoned down here Shame i've got no more space
I picked up a Manta 1.8 gearbox for £40, got a free 2.0L box and propshaft too
You need the 1.8 gearbox, cos the 2.0L no good, apart for spares
