LT77 Gearbox - long remote
am using the long remote on the gearbox but this has a fitting on the rear rhs - i think this is a cushion for 1st & 2nd. the problem being is the
space this takes - makes it very tight in the tunnel. does anyone know if this needs to be there or can it be spaced out/adjusted just using
appropriate washers, nuts etc
i could move the gearbox further back/forward but i feel the position its currently in to be better for me - and would also mean cutting out &
moving chassis sections which i dont really want to do but will if really necessary
ps Geoff (wilkingj) did some really useful info in this - cheers mate !

I think the fitting that you are referring to is the reverse stop plate.
I left this in place but cut down the bolt heads.
However I did could not get it adjusted correctly and so the gear lever can easily travel fully to the left when trying to engage 1st or 2nd.
I am now used to it and very very rarely hit reverse by accident.
It will be a pain to remove once the gearbox is installed so I would recommend that it be removed and that you be careful.

Yes this assembly is designed to prevent engagement of reverse by accident. The tension on the spring controls how hard you need to push the gear
lever to the left to engage reverse. I'm using a +4" chassis and can just about fit the gearbox into my tunnel.
As suggested above, I don't see why you can't cut the bolts down a bit. Alternatively you could build an "H" gate for the
gearstick and use this to prevent engagement of reverse by mistake.
Good luck!
Craig.
