4AGE Alternator
Our alternator is currently on the right hand side of the engine but this is causing a problem fouling the steering linkage. Does anyone knw a way to
mount the alternator on the other side of the engine where the power steering pump was situated.

if these are like lucas ACR and A types (e.g. A127) then the front and rear parts for the cases are held by 3 very long bolts.
you can undo these bolts andthen rotate the end case to align the lugs for left and right hand engine mountings.
A trip to the scrappy for an alternator may be a cheap option - but make sure pulley is in right place and about the same diameter; if not, that the
pulleys can be interchanged.
so now I know - it is toyota engine.
some useful info here:
http://www.users.bigpond.com/vidore/toyota_4age_engine.htm
mentions alternator mounts

Rusty,
Have you had a read of Phil Bradshaw's site ?
http://home.clear.net.nz/pages/phil.bradshaw/Engine%20Installation.htm
He mentions alternative brackets for RWD /FWD installations.
Sorry not much help.
