Raw Engineering specialise in the 4AGE, and supply all sorts of bits and pieces for installing the 4AGE in a 7 type car.

I think RAW do a conversion plate for the type 9 Ford gearbox. Best check them out.

Raw do indeed do a bell housing to connect to a type9 but it aint cheap mate.
I looked into it but the extra cost put me off.
Good luck though if you go ahead, it is a sweet engine.

Have a look in my photo archive, i made a bellhousing using a combination of the ford and toyota bellhousings, not as difficult as it may seem and definetly less work for me than the cost of buying a ready made effort.

Worth considering?

Toyota T50 (RWD) corolla box is the best answer if you can find one.
There have been a couple on e bay recently for £120-£150.Obviously no conversion is needed and its a lot lighter being alloy with much better ratios than a Ford box.
See my archive, notice how far back my engine is with this box .

Once I've finished a project why do I start another?

I used the Raw bellhousing, yep expensive but i went the get it built route. The type 9 is heavy, but you can get the engine well back still and the gear stick pops up in just the right place. the rear coolant pipe connecter bit is about 5mm from my scuttle.
PS I also love the 8000rpm scream, feeling the rev limiter cut in can be a bit unnerving though (eyes on road not revs!)
enjoy the build
