Bike TBs on an XE
I don't suppose anybody has any rolling road graphs of their XE running bike throttle bodies they could post up?
Trying to compare the "locost" approach with Jenvey/SBD/Weber etc.
Can you also detail engine mods, management etc.
Appreciated.

I don't I'm afraid, but rolling road graphs won't tell you much, the issue will not be power related, just ease of fitting and
eventual cost involved.
Correctly sized bike throttle bodies will make just the same power as equivalent Jenvey's etc.
The art is selecting the right bodies, and most use late Suzuki GSXR jobbies as they are all seperate and can therefore be easily respaced to suit the
vauxhall bore centrelines.

Thats my problem. I'm having a "discussion" with somebody on another forum who is doubting the ability of bike tb's and
megasquirt to be in the same ballpark as Jenvey's and MBE/Emerald etc.

Just to add another perspective, I have a 1.8 Zetec with TBs made from an old pair of Weber 40s and it produced 150 BHP on Emerald's RR when I
had the ECU set up.
The engine was new and had a pair of 2.0l cams and produces what is predicted for this state of tune with Jenvey's

Sorry to hijack thread but Schrodinger do you have any information on how to convert webers to TBs? I'm sure a few people on here would like to
see it . Thanks

Just ignore them!
The lack of knowledge on this subject even at very high levels is truly shocking!!!
I have not used megasquirt, and have suggested to others not to on occasion, but not because it is "worse" or will "not make the
right power", but simply because until recently it was more complex to get going with.
I like the emerald system because a complete computer twit like me can still understand it.
In terms of power, there will be no issues at all, so don't worry!
All you need to be concerned about is as follows:
1) can you physically (without having to pay somebody lots of money to do tig welding) connect the bodies to the engine and maintain an effective
induction length.
2) can you wire up the injection system and get the engine started
3) can you find a rolling road that will be willing to map the car on megasquirt.
If all 3 answers are yes, then it will work exactly the same as any other system.
There are many people out there with jenveys and mbe ecu's that have never been on a rolling road and consequently will be making less power
than a properly set up system.
The question with electronic fuel injection/ign is not what setup you use, but how well set up that system is.
