Help - Ford gearboxes
Can anybody with a type 2 gearbox (from the 1600 escort) and a type 9 confirm if the starter motor pattern for the holes is the same?
Thank you very much.

So asuming a LRS707 starter fit a type 9 with a zetec it should work with a type 2 and a zetec too...

Well my gearbox (type 2) has 3 holes for mounting the starter, but the original starter has 2.
If anyone can confirm that the type9 has exactly the same pattern (for the starter) as the type 2 I would be very very very very grateful!!!!

very early fords had 2 bolt fixing,i seem to remember 2 bolt starter will fit a 3 bolt gearbox
the reason they changed was the bolts kept coming loose, stick to 3 bolt
