Accusump install

If you were interested heres a couple of pics of the Accusump installed on my Striker.

http://www.accusump.com

I've also installed an oil cooler and a low profile sump (pics in my archive) at the same time.

If you didn't know already the Accusump contains a reserve of oil which can be released back into the engine under a low pressure situation. The yellow handle allows the Accusump to be locked off either for working on the car or if the car will be unused for a while.

Oh and the engine is slightly too far over so the bonnet has rubbed off the R from Striker!

I take it your accusump is the pistoned variety?

PS Nice shoe.

Yep one of Clarks finest shoes I'll have you know!

I had my karting boots on so Martin at RAW could measure my feet in the pedal box. Unfortunately my size 11 feet only just fit in the Striker pedal box and the pedals are too low. So they're welding on a taller pedal box next week and fitting a balance bar brake pedal for good measure.

Yep the Accusump has a low pressure piston at the end of the cylinder. Seems to be a good investment against engine damage as I do a lot of track miles.

Would it be an idea to mount the pressure gauge from the accusump into the cockpit so you'll know of any pressure differences??

The accusump may dispel all of its contents and you be non the wiser.

Seems logical as you want to know if the car is suffering any low pressure moments even if the Accusump is able to compensate!

Thats the standard location but the gauge is just a screw in fitting. Probably just a length of hose will do it.

Funny thing is RAW supply an oil cooler in the kit but didn't actually know the running temp on the demo car.

They had to fit one to the race chassis with a bike engine so I guess they assumed it would be needed. I do have an oil temp gauge but I still need to stick it in the new sump!

Remember with the valve to lock off every time you turn the engine off or the oil flows back to the sump.

which means taking the bonnet off every time you want to start or turn of the engine, unless you remote mount the valve or use a cable to activate the handle.

i have a accusump and will look at the cable option as makes sense and less hassle every time you stop.

nice install.
