Inlet problems
Hi.
I have today been looking at the inlet side of my Engine (1.8 Zetec).
I have three different options available to me but none of they is going to work without a few modifications being done.
1st I have the original plastic inlet from the Engine.
2nd I have a Fisher sports cars special inlet.
3rd I have a Rover Turbo Inlet.
Pictures in my archive make the following make more sense I hope.
pictures
These are the problems.
The ford item catches on the chassis and I feel that it is too high, the throttle body seats on top and will need a pipe on top and therefore be too
high for the bonnet to fit.
The fisher item has no way to attach the injectors to it. I think it should have a plate that fits to the block which holds the injectors and then the
inlet bolts to the plate.
This item also sticks out to far so the bonnet/nose cone won’t fit.
The Rover item, I thought would be my final inlet I would have had a spacer plate made to hold it to the Zetec, it would have given me a good 150 BHP.
But this will not fit with out moving the coil pack.
Solution.
I thought to myself if I was to cut the pipes etc off the ford manifold making a flat plate 35mm thick, then the fisher inlet could be bolted to the
block through the plastic ford plate which holds the injectors. I would then need to Have the fisher tubes shortened by 60mm and all would fit.
What do you think?
The fisher item has a alloy block between the phellum and the throttle body with four holes in it what are these holes for?

Hi, i am using the original Ford manifold sliced as you describe to be a sandwich plate to mount the injectors. I have made a custom manifold similar
to the fisher item to bolt to this.
I think you will find the holes you describe are for the idle speed valve to fit to, which should be on the bottom of your Ford manifold.

what about modding the fisher manifold by fitting injector stubs onto the inlet tubes, like the one PPC made for their crossflow?.

Is the Fisher manifold steel or ally? if it's ally then you can buy the injector pockets although if it's steel you will probably have to
get them made. Trust Electrical used to do a plenum but I don't know if they are still in existence http://www.trustelectrical.co.uk/
I have also seen somebody else advertising in PPC a plenum and ECU although I'm sure that you could buy the Plenum on it's own if you
wanted to. Unfortunately I'm at work atm so can't look out the name.
