RV8 & SD1 Clutch probs

Hi,

Woundering if anyone can shed any light on this.

I have an RV8 3.9 (was 3.5) with an 3.5 SD1 flywheel attached. The gearbox, which as fas as I can make out has the marking 17A0161826 D (on the side) making it I think from a 5 speed 2300/2600 (not sure on this though, as the codes I've found don't have the G infront). My problem is do I go for a 3.5 ltr clutch kit (but which one as their are two early and late) or a 2300/2600 clutch.

Hope someone can help

Cheers

According to Rimmerbros, all clutches will fit, the diff between the two V8 clutches is that one is self centreing the other isn't.

There are two clutches on RV8's

9" and 10.5"
You cant use a range rover / Landy V8 flywheel which has the 10.5" clutch as it wont fit in a SD1 bellhousing.

I used a P6 flywheel, (or SD1) with a 9" clutch.
I am fairly sure the Land Rover Diesel (Tdi 200) clutch and cover fits. but the release bearing wont. £53 ish from paddockspares.com (Not 100% there, but Rimmers is £125+) I have measured them side by side and they look the same, sizes etc
However, You musy use the SDI Clutch arm, release bearing and carrier, pivot pin, and slave cylinder.
Rimmers want the earth for a Clutch Slave cylinder. I got mine from www.brakeparts.co.uk much cheaper.

The Master cylinder, I used a Land Rover Series 3 Clutch master cylinder from www.Paddockspares.com for £19 (genuine Girling, or £9 for the Pattern one) , not the £75 that Rimmers wanted. You just need a "saddle clamp" with an imperial thread from Europa spares to make it fit. Mine works fine in my viento.
Also fit a new Pivot pin and Arm, they wear out quickly. See my piccys of the worn pivot @98K miles. Release bearing melted and pushed through the clutch.

There are some piccies in my archive.

1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Best Regards
Geoff

dizzy and amp if you can. The manifolds were useful for lining things up, but to be honest their gonna be surplas soon, so if you want them back let me know, or anyone else wants em for that matter.
