Advice reqd (again!)
This has probably been covered before but...
If I want to put a K-Series engine in, what car should I be looking to find a suitable donor. Does anyone have any web links or info regarding the
K-Series?
I've only a rough idea of the cars that had this engine in them.
I'm looking for info on...
Various size/power etc (what cc can you get 'em in)
Emission problems (pre '92 I'm guessing would be ok)
Gearbox problems (how to get a sierra type9 to fit to it)
General fitment problems (it's a book chassis that I want to fit it into)
I've given up on trying to find a 1.6 xflow and I'd like a more modern engine anyway.
Any info would be great.

There was a survey done on T.O.L. and not a single Locoster had used the "K" engine. Whether its because of the gearbox problem or not I don't
know, 'cos the engine is a little gem So if you decide to go that way you'll be out on your own I think..
Dunno how you're gonna get a RWD gearbox to fit (other than an adapter plate to the ubiquitous type-9) the Caterham gearbox overcomes this, but at a
price I should imagine ;(
Keep us up to date, 'cos all things being equal I'd love a "K" in my Locost (once built )

I was talking to a garage mechanic about a type of Rover my son wanted to buy (416, or similar).
His opinion was that the engine was fine if it got regular servicing, otherwise you may get a tendency to blow head gaskets. Once that starts
happening, forget it. Something to do with the fact that the engine is held together with bolts that go all the way from the sump to the head.
If I was looking for a modern car engine (as opposed to a bike engine) I would try hard to find a Toyota 4-AGE and matching gearbox. 1600cc, 135BHP,
fairly light and heaps of knowledge available with the Aussie locost builders. Not as cheap, but very healthy and almost unburstable.

k series is a great engine blew head gasket 12'000 miles ago not a whisper out of it,
re: long bolts, some bolts apparantly could bottom out giving the impression of correct torque but with obvious clamping problems allowing the head to
shift and such. I think the S2000 engine is exactly the same configuration head block sump sandwich
